This is our signature publication, offering a monthly perspective on the markets beyond the day-to-day noise. Each issue features an Editor’s Note from Editor-in-Chief John Buckingham, along with a complete list of our current stock recommendations and timely highlights on the individual holdings.
The A Patient Prospector monthly newsletter offers an examination of the investment landscape, the companies we recommend and the potential opportunities we’re finding for patient, long-term investors.
It’s where our conviction and investment philosophy come together.
What’s inside each issue?
Every edition begins with our perspective on the broader investment environment and the developments we think matter to investors.
But the heart of the publication is our research.
All Access subscribers receive individual stock ideas and the investment theses behind them, including topics like why a company has caught our attention, what we believe the market may be overlooking, how we think about valuation, what could drive long-term returns and if any potential headwinds might lie ahead.
In addition to revisiting companies already under our coverage as their businesses, share prices and valuations evolve, the newsletter is the place where we will offer new recommendations.
Our objective isn’t to give you more things to trade.
It’s to give you ideas worth considering for the long haul.
A patient approach to finding Value
We don’t confine our search to a particular sector, market capitalization or type of company. Opportunity can emerge anywhere and for decades we’ve made it our mission to find it.
We use a combination of fundamental research and quantitative analysis to distill a vast investment universe into a manageable list of companies worth a closer look. By putting the numbers to work, we aim to identify businesses that may be overlooked, mispriced or simply flying under the radar, the potential “diamonds in the rough” that might otherwise escape notice.
From there, we turn our attention to the difference between what we believe a business is worth and the current market price. We’re looking for opportunities to buy what we believe is a dollar bill for fifty cents, with the understanding that realizing that value can take time. Patience is an important part of the process.
Sometimes the opportunity is hiding in plain sight. More often, finding it requires patience, discipline and a willingness to look where others aren’t.
That’s where the prospecting comes in.
A new issue is published monthly.
